GNC Funeral Parlour was founded in 2017 by husband and wife Lebogang and Debbie Mogorosi. The idea took root while one of the founders was in China, where they met a friend already working in the funeral business. They asked to work alongside him without pay, just to get a feel for the industry — and fell in love with it, and with the work of helping grieving families through one of life's hardest moments. Three months later, they sold their taxis to start the business.
GNC grew significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with all revenue reinvested straight back into the business to help it grow bigger and better. Mastering the group society scheme also played a key part in that growth, helping GNC become more successful in the funeral industry.

GNC Funeral Parlour took part in the Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest Parade of Hearses, achieved by Funerex Africa (South Africa) at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Midrand, on 17 March 2022 — an official record of 122 hearses.
